SEPT. 4 | Warner Premiere has started production on the direct-to-DVD feature Lost Boys 2: The Tribe, a sequel to the cult 1987 vampire film starring former teen heartthrobs Corey Feldman and Corey Haim.

Lost Boys 2, in which Feldman reprises his starring role as Edgar Frog, is expected to street from Warner Home Video in third-quarter 2008. Jamison Newlander also returns as the character Alan Frog. Tad Hilgenbrink, The O.C.’s Autumn Reeser and Angus Sutherland round out the cast.

Feldman’s sidekick Haim has been pushing to also be included in the sequel, as documented by current VH-1 reality show The Two Coreys. But at this point, Haim is not listed in Lost Boys 2’s talent roster.

The sequel’s story line chronicles a girl unknowingly falling for a vampire and her brother’s fight to keep her from turning into one.

P.J. Pesce is directing Lost Boys 2 on location in Vancouver. Hans Rodionoff penned the script.

“Last year, when Warner Premiere was established, we knew we wanted to engage with fans of The Lost Boys and have this title on our slate, because the original is a favorite film of so many people,” said Diane Nelson, Warner Premiere president. “We have tremendous respect for Joel Schumacher’s original film and are striving to maintain the tone and integrity of the original, while offering something fresh to old and new fans alike.”
