> Modestly produced but riveting psychological thriller from director of The Blair Witch Project.
A low-key but chilling psychological thriller with horrific aspects, Believers is one of Raw Feed’s DVD premieres, developed in part by The Blair Witch Project’s co-director Dan Myrick. The story gets underway when two paramedics (Johnny Messner and Jon Huertas), responding to a distress call, are kidnapped and imprisoned by cultists. “The Teacher” (Daniel Benzali) and his quietly maniacal followers attempt to manipulate the captives into abandoning their belief system. Small-scale but extremely well done, the film moves at a plodding pace but generates a spooky atmosphere and supplies some truly chilling moments.
Shelf Talk: The best of the three Raw Feed thrillers released to date (the other two being Rest Stop and Sublime), Believers won’t attract the gorehounds, but stressing the Myrick connection—Blair Witch, after all, is the highest grossing indie horror flick to date—is bound to stimulate interest.
