> Conventional thriller with strong supporting turn by newly minted star Daniel Craig.
Daniel Craig’s relatively recent rise to stardom has already seen several of his old films unearthed for DVD release. This made-for-TV movie, produced in 1996, is the latest. Although Craig gets top billing and prominent placement on the packaging, he’s actually the secondary male lead. Rosie Rowell plays undercover policewoman Jude Sawyer, who poses as a lonely woman drawn to charismatic Graham Ives (Peter Howitt), who’s believed to have murdered his wife. Craig plays a fellow officer carrying on an affair with Jude. It’s familiar stuff, reasonably well done but nothing extraordinary.
Shelf Talk: Kiss and Tell borrows freely from myriad crime dramas that have gone before, but in some ways, it most closely resembles 1985’s Jagged Edge, which found defense attorney Glenn Close drawn to suspected wife murderer Jeff Bridges. You can tout the newer film as an edgier, more intense version of that one.
