APRIL 24 | Porchlight Home Entertainment is launching a new label for faith-based titles, Porchlight Inspire.
“The Porchlight Inspire label will highlight programming that is inspirational, faith-based and family-friendly, with a prominent spiritual message,” said Gary Jones, president of Porchlight Home Entertainment.
The first release will be Adventures From the Book of Virtues: Adventures in Faith, from the award-winning animated TV series that aired on PBS and was produced by Porchlight’s parent company, Porchlight Entertainment.
The title is based on the No. 1 best-selling book by William J. Bennett. Programs in the series tell stories about honesty, compassion, responsibility, courage, self-discipline, work, friendship, loyalty, perseverance and faith.
Adventures in Faith includes two episodes, The Good Samaritan: A Story of Compassion and Harriet Tubman: A Story of Faith.
The first DVD includes two episodes.
The DVD will be released Aug. 12 (prebook July 9; $12.98).
In the first quarter of 2009, Porchlight Inspire will launch the Christian version of Jay Jay the Jet Plane, also produced by the parent company, as was the original secular Jay Jay, which aired on PBS.
Launched early last year, Porchlight’s home entertainment division distributes family and children’s titles, including the Leapfrog holiday special A Tad of Christmas Cheer and the Wheels on the Bus series.
