NOV. 30 | PHYSICAL: Best Buy is among retailers extending Black Friday savings into online deals this week, including $7.99 pricing for such Blu-ray Disc titles as Underworld, Terminator, Silence of the Lambs and Passion of the Christ.
The sale is part of many retailers’ push to mark Cyber Monday, which has become a second major holiday shopping period for online shoppers following the traditional Black Friday kick-off frame.
On its site, Best Buy also is hyping a handful of $6.99 Blu-ray titles, including Hellraiser and Children of the Corn. That represents an even lower price than its $7.99 advertised Black Friday Blu-ray pricing, which at the time beat many other stores’ promotions for high-definition titles.
Best Buy also chopped pricing on the Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray player to $129.99, similarly representing steeper cuts than its advertised $149.99 Black Friday tag for the player.
Amazon.com also is participating in low Blu-ray catalog pricing, including $7.99 tags on Full Metal Jacket and Terminator—just a few examples within an extensive selection of sub-$10 choices. Other highlights include Silence of the Lambs and Ronin for $8.99.
Elsewhere, Walmart was behind a $369 PlayStation 3 ‘Value Bundle,’ which includes the console, Blu-ray remote, an additional wireless controller, games Batman: Arkham Asylum and Infamous and Blu-ray movie The Dark Knight.
Apple has extended its Black Friday deals as well, offering free shipping on everything in the Apple store and deals on accessories for iPhones and other products. ITunes wasn’t running Cyber Monday specific deals, but the site has recently begun allowing users to gift movies and other content to friends.
