Sip and share with EAA

June 15, 2009

The Entertainment AIDS Alliance will hold its seventh annual Wine & Wisdom fundraiser at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles on June 23, and it is shaping up as an event not to be missed.

If the lovely Skirball, nestled up against the Santa Monica Mountains, and the lure of friends, food, jazz, good wine and the even more intoxicating evening air aren’t enough to lure you out of your office, consider this: EAA’s event committee has lined up its biggest and best collection of auction items (live and silent) since Wine & Wisdom began in 2003.

Among the items available to the highest bidder will be five-star hotel packages at Peninsula and Fairmont Hotel locations worldwide (including Manila, Acapulco, Quebec, Vancouver, Bangkok, Hong Kong); stays at The Calistoga Ranch in Napa, The Loews in Santa Monica, The Riviera Resort and Spa in Palm Springs, Quail Lodge in Carmel, The Resort at Pelican Hill, Newport Beach and the Grand Del Mar in San Diego.

If those tickets sound too big for you, there are spa treatments, Dodgers and L.A. Women’s Tennis Championships tickets, dance lessons, wine and even some high-end Greg Norman Signature Wagyu Kobe steaks (we’ve all gotta eat, right?).

Admittedly, it’s a tough time to ask people to buy tickets and go out, but admission to Wine & Wisdom starts at only $25. And there is no more worthy cause than EAA, the home entertainment industry’s only homegrown charity.

Now 20 years old, EAA has distributed more than $4 million to AIDS charities.

Wine & Wisdom alone has donated more than $184,000 to The UCLA AIDS Institute’s CARE Center, which conducts research in the effort to find a cure for HIV/AIDS and provides treatment services to people living with this devastating illness.

This year’s W&W already has lined up an awesome $50,000+ in sponsorships, but it’s a plaza full of people on the evening of June 23 that will really make the event a success.

If you have the means, it’s more important this year than ever to support charities like EAA.

I know I wouldn’t miss it.
