Hot Fuzz DVD, HD DVD
June 12, 2007
I was disappointed to miss this in theaters. The trailer looked hilarious. But now Universal is bringing out Hot Fuzz -- a British cop spoof with Nick Frost and Simon Pegg -- on July 31 (prebook June 26). Here's what Variety thought of it.
The movie made $22.3 million in theaters but got a very healthy 89% on Rotten Tomatoes Critics Tomatometer and 96% from users!
Universal has priced the DVD at $29.98 (anamorphic widescreen or fullscreen versions) and at $39.98 for the HD DVD/DVD Combo.
It looks like the standard-def DVD is minus any bonus features, but the high-def version is loaded (guess what Universal is trying to push). Here's the list:
• Outtakes
• Theatrical Trailers
• The Man Who Would Be Fuzz - Simon and Nick play a scene as Sean Connery and Michael Caine
• Hot Funk - Montage of clips using the "clean" dialogue from the TV and airline version of the film
• Danny's Notebook: The Other Side
• Audio Commentary with Simon Pegg & Edgar Wright
• Audio Commentary with The Sanford Police Service - Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Jim Broadbent, Rafe Spall, Kevin Eldon & Olivia Colman
• Audio Commenary with The Sandford Village People - Kenneth Cranham, Timothy Dalton, Paul Freeman & Edward Woodward
• Audio Commentary with The Real Fuzz - Andy Leafe & Nick Eckland
• Fuzz-O-Meter - Trivia Track

• Simon Muggs - Compilation of Simon Pegg hamming it up after each take
• Sergeant Fisher's Perfect Sunday
• Photographic: Galleries
• Hearsay: Plot Holes and Comparisons
• Special Effects: Before and After - A before and after look at the film's special effects scenes
