Stardust, The Tudors DVD

Perusing Paramount's site today, I saw they have set dates for theatrical fantasy adventure Stardust and Showtime period series The Tudors.

The Tudors: The Complete First Season will street Jan. 2 (prebook Nov. 21) on DVD. Starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, this series is bound to get noticed on disc. It got rave reviews on Showtime (and bowed to record ratings), so it should pic up fans who don't subscribe to the cable network. The first season was quite intriguing (and the first scene of the season finale will have a few jaws dropping). My husband and I were regular viewers.

Stardust will street Dec. 18 (prebook Nov. 6) on DVD and HD DVD. Despite a stellar cast, including Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Claire Danes, Peter O'Toole, Sienna Miller, Ricky Gervais and narration by the always impeccable Ian McKellen, the movie grossed only $37.8 million in theaters, which is a shame, because it is a lot of fun. Seeing De Niro dancing in a dress is worth the DVD price by itself! Both the DVD and HD DVD will come with a making-of featurette, five deleted scenes and a blooper reel (De Niro in a tutu?).

No prices are available on the site, but I'll let update this post when I hear. Got the prices: Tudors will be $42.99; Stardust will be $29.99 on DVD and $39.99 on HD DVD.
