Gracie DVD
July 2, 2007
Inspirational sports movies always do well on DVD, and here's one for the ladies.
New Line's soccer film Gracie, based on the lives of actors Andrew Shue and Elisabeth Shue (Andrew produced and both co-star), will be released on DVD on Sept. 18 (prebook Aug. 14) priced at $27.95.
In the movie, Carly Schroeder of Lizzie McGuire fame, plays a teenage girl who petitions the school board to allow her to play on the all-boys high school varsity soccer team. (That was Elisabeth in real life.) Dermot Mulroney also stars, and the film was directed by An Inconvenient Truth's Davis Guggenheim.
The film didn't spend long in theaters, grossing just $2.8 million. But the Shue siblings were on the Today show pushing it, so viewers will probably remember it when they see it on the shelf.
