Blockbuster Online Preparing to Raise Prices?
March 6, 2007

HackingNetflix got hold of a Blockbuster survey asking members how they feel about higher pricing on its Total Access plan, which allows subscribers to rent online and in store.
This morning, during a Q&A at Thomas Weisel Partners 2007 Internet and Media Conference, Netflix CFO Barry McCarthy was asked how Netflix felt higher prices given Blockbuster's indication that it would like to raise prices. McCarthy said the company continues to test lower prices. Netflix has used low-pricing to grow subscriptions. In what's sure to be a crowd pleaser (at least with subscribers if not investors), McCarthy said "in a perfect world we would always drop price."
