PS3 could fail, but Blu-ray will win, Sony chief says
March 21, 2007

It's strange to see comments about why something might fail when it's still only launching, not to mention when it's got a whole next-generation DVD format banking on it, but here they are...Sony chief Sir Howard Stringer said in an interview with TV program CEO Exchange that if the PS3 fails, it'll be due to the high price tag.

"If we fail, it is because we positioned PS3 sales as the Mercedes of the videogame field," Stringer said in the interview.

Stringer did go on to say that Blu-ray will win, saying it's outselling HD DVD 3-to-1 (actually, it's closer to 2-to-1)
