Blade Runner Is Coming
July 18, 2007
A trailer on Warner’s upcoming 300 DVD is sure to fuel the fires of anticipation that legions of fans are feeling for this fall’s Blade Runner: The 25th Anniversary Edition.
It’s a quite a cool spot, featuring voiceovers and talking head appearances by the film’s key cast and crew members. The comments range from ethereal and thespian-like, as when actress Daryl Hannah coos “You
have all the tools, colors and toys--everything at your disposal—to create an imaginary world,” to tabloid-esque and over-the-top, like co-exec producer/co-writer Hampton Fancher insisting that “The chaos of that production—everybody hating it and all—had people thinking they didn’t want to be in movies after they appeared in it." Even director Ridley Scott gets overly intense when he declares “My weapon was that camera--either you’re there with me, great. If you’re not there with me, too bad.”
Of course, the real high drama comes at the close when co-star Edward James Olmos comments that “It was so dark and so intense. Did you get Harrison?.” The music swells and there is a final cut to star Harrison Ford, who quietly announces, “It was a bitch.”
Yeah, we’re looking forward to this Special Edition, too!
