It's Your Turn PS3!
March 31, 2009

Playstation 2 tooted its horn today about lowering the price of its console to a cool $100.
Now I'm not saying PS3 has to go that low, but I think it's due for some sort of price cut, especially considering the current state of the economy.
If we are going to get serious about Blu-ray really taking off, consumers need a harder kick in the pants to buy a player.
The set-tops are getting reasonable - where you can stream Netflix content on certain models for under $300. But what if you could play games, stream movies/TV shows (through Playstation Store) AND watch Blu-ray discs for about that same amount? Now we're talking, right? That's one seriously great machine that definitely would give the Wii and the Xbox 360 a serious run for their money.
PS3 has long been rumored to be close to taking that $100 price chop down to $299. I say the sooner the better.  I have a feeling that the news is coming - the question is when. I'll bet it may be near the key holiday shopping period....or possibly around the upcoming E3 show.

I have been holding out for the PS3 for some time. I know that most gamers are willing to shell out big bucks for a new console, and there is nothing wrong with that, if you want to tell companies it's ok to charge that much. I however, put a limit on what I am willing to pay, and until they reach that price, I won't buy. I will continue to do my part in helping to control high prices on retail items.
