Disappearing Games

Retailers have been told that Paramount's HD DVD pack of films starring Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan has been benched. Originally, the The Jack Ryan Collection HD DVD, featuring Patriot Games, The Sum of All Fears, The Hunt for Red October and Clear and Present Danger, was streeting on Oct. 23. It looks like Paramount made an error on the packaging, detailing bonus features that weren't in fact included in the set. An email apparently sent from Paramount to retailers explaining the situation has been posted at High Def Digest . At this point, Paramount has not commented to VB, and it's not clear if the studio has picked a new street date. 
Here is the cached listing on Amazon.com, though the site no longer lists the product as being for sale.
Newbury Comics buyer Ian Leshin is not overly concerned about not being able to sell the product as planned. It likely would have taken second stage to Paramount's current 'must-have' HD DVD Transformers. 
"I would think that any of the films in the series are good on HD DVD - Patriot Games is a great action thriller. But overall I don’t think it was going to be the biggest seller of the season [for the studio]. Transformers would have overshadowed it."
In fact, on its first day on sale at Newbury, the Transformers HD DVD ranked number five among all its top DVD sellers, beating such other new releases of the week as standard-definition titles The Reaping and The Hoax.
