By Jennifer Netherby -- Video Business, 2/26/2007
FEB. 26 | Netflix Inc. on Feb. 24 delivered its 1 billionth DVD rental since the company’s 1999 launch, which Netflix said was a symbol of its subscriber growth and customer satisfaction.
The 1 billionth rental was Paramount Home Entertainment’s Babel shipped to a subscriber in Helotes, Texas, who will receive free membership for life.
“A billion of anything is a lot, and it’s certainly a nice round number,” Netflix co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings said in a statement. “What it really says to us, however, is that we’ve been lucky to have such supportive customers over the last seven years and that we’ve provided them with a distinctive customer experience.”
