Follow Along DVDs
July 5, 2007
Studios are getting quite innovative with their kids DVDs, and I must say it's nice to see them thinking outside of the box.
You remember Lionsgate kid-friendly DVD carrying case. Well, Fox called that and raised it with read-along captions.
The movies being released in the first wave, on July 10 (order now) priced at $14.98 each, are Anastasia, Ferngully: The Last Rainforest, Garfield The Movie, Good Boy!, Ice Age, Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Kids, Robots, The Sandlot, Stellaluna and Thumbelina.
According to Fox's press release, research by the National Captioning Institute and others shows that children and adults can improve their literacy skills by viewing shows with captions.
And the technology is already available. Good idea.
The handle built into the DVD case also has a little indent at the top that looks perfect for hanging on an impulse rack. Looks like Fox has thought of everything.
