Ashley Tisdale to lead made-for-DVD movie Picture This
By Susanne Ault -- Video Business, 8/27/2007
AUG. 27 | MGM has tuned in Ashley Tisdale for the made-for-DVD project Picture This.
A star of hot Disney franchise High School Musical, Tisdale will play a high school girl who is surprised when she becomes the crush of the most popular boy in school. Her character must balance her family’s wishes with her new romantic life.
Stephen Herek is directing Picture This. Brian Reilly and Patrick Hughes are producing. A street date has not yet been specified. Production starts this week in Montreal.
Picture This joins a growing stable of projects under MGM’s DVD Premiere unit, which also includes expected new installments of such properties as Legally Blonde, Cutting Edge, Stargate and Species. The division hopes to release up to 12 titles annually.
“Ashley Tisdale is clearly a huge talent, and we couldn’t be more excited to be working with her on this movie,” said Jason Weiss, VP at MGM’s DVD Premiere unit. “We are excited to be giving Ashley her first role carrying a movie and feel Picture This is a perfect vehicle to showcase both her acting and singing talents.”
