Deal includes download rights

By Susanne Ault -- Video Business, 9/7/2007

SEPT. 7 | Image Entertainment has signed an exclusive DVD and digital output agreement with U.K.-based Revolver Entertainment LTD.

Over the first year of the deal, Image will distribute 12 to 15 titles from Revolver and the company’s Los Angeles-based subsidiary Revolver Entertainment LLC. Image also will have rights to deliver titles as downloads.

The pact will kick off with the November release of the DVD 3000 Miles: Gumball 3000. In the feature, skateboarding great Tony Hawk, Jackass stars Bam Margera and Ryan Dunn and others race around the world in the cult car racing event Gumball 3000.

“We’re looking forward to helping Revolver launch the first of many releases here in North America,” said Image chief operating officer David Borshell. “Our companies have been working together for several years, primarily in the U.K. market and, over this time, have built a solid relationship. Image’s sales and distribution strengths combined with Revolver’s marketing abilities will certainly make for an exciting future.”

Revolver is hoping Image helps it further extend its U.S. presence.

“Revolver has earned a reputation in the U.K. for using aggressive and innovative marketing to achieve strong retail success stories and will mirror the same proven business model here in North America,” said Revolver VP Sebastian Marciano. “I’m looking forward to building a first class team to work on the great titles we have coming through.”
