> Hackneyed sex comedy has great packaging but fails to deliver on its promise.
Goaded by his dorm buddies, ladies man Miles (Jefferson Brown) intends to sleep with the whole alphabet—girls whose names begin with letters A to Z—in the interest of winning a bet. But he doesn’t count on falling for one of his targets, Gaby Xeropolus (Melanie Marden). This smarmy sex comedy has very little sex and no nudity, except for a too-cute-by-half flash of breasts after the story concludes. That’s a deliberate poke in the eye to the movie’s key demo, 18 to 25 males. And frankly, Pigs isn’t good enough to risk alienating potential viewers by generating bad word of mouth.
Shelf Talk: Nothing if not aptly named, Pigs is the latest descendent in a lineage that begins with Porky’s and extends down through Road Trip, American Pie and others of their ilk. The provocative leggy packaging will attract renters, for sure, but they’ll be disappointed by the relative lack of “action.”
