Spotlight on stadiums

SPORTS GUIDE: New DVDs highlight where baseball players play

By Cindy Spielvogel -- Video Business, 4/14/2008

APRIL 14 | Lots of DVDs have been released highlighting baseball players, but there aren’t many about where they play.

That will change this year with the release of three titles from Major League Baseball Productions dedicated to well-known stadiums.

Baseball fans sometimes are as sentimental about stadiums as they are about players, so each of these titles should make good collector’s items.

Shout Factory has Yankee Stadium: Baseball’s Cathedral, a new title being released July 1, an opportune time with the New York team playing its final season in the stadium this year and this year’s MLB All-Star Game being played there July 15.

The DVD comes with a commemorative ticket and coin.

A&E Home Video will showcase two other famous stadiums in upcoming MLB releases that highlight stadiums through compilations of some of the greatest games played there.

Essential Games of Shea Stadium, about the other New York venue that is saying goodbye this year, and Essential Games of Fenway Park, about the country’s oldest stadium, will be available in June.
