Hudson Milbank (Matthew Perry) is convinced that he's going insane. But he's just met the perfect girl (Lynn Collins, The Lake House) and struggles to be his most charming self. Meanwhile, he frantically seeks a cure for his anxieties and goes through a string of therapists who turn out to be crazier than him. Co-starring Kevin Pollak (The Usual Suspects) and Mary Steenburgen as a hilarious lusty psychiatrist, Numb will warm the heart of anybody who has ever teetered on the edge of a breakdown.

> Matthew Perry tests his Friends’ patience as a severe depressive.
Matthew Perry gets to showcase his dramatic skills in this quirky tale of a screenwriter who suffers from a form of depression known as “depersonalization,” which makes him screw up his relationship with a dream girl (Lynn Collins). The film was reportedly inspired by the real experiences of writer/director Harris Goldberg, who never makes it clear why we should care if our moping hero is able to salvage his relationship. But Numb does offer a winning supporting cast that includes Kevin Pollak and Mary Steenburgen.
Shelf Talk: Friends fans are the principal audience for this fish-nor-fowl film, which contains some comic notes but is mostly dramatic. The release will be supported by print ads in Entertainment Weekly and Rolling Stone, as well as online promotion on MySpace, YouTube and Ain’t It Cool News.
