Masses take Tyler Perry home

January 22, 2009 You don't often see a film that made $37 million at the box-office top our DVDSellers chart, but that's just what happened this week with Tyler Perry's The Family that Preys, from Lionsgate.
The title, starring Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodward, was only No. 10 on the rental chart for the week.
Take the performance as proof of the size and loyalty of Perry's audience. They want to own the movies this man makes.
In fact, the release of Family that Preys pulled companion release Tyler Perry's The Marriage Counselor, the DVD of one of Perry's plays, to No. 13 in sales for the week.
