Stargate fans rejoice. MGM isn't done with the series yet. The studio will release a "remastered, recut and reimagined" version of the feature-length pilot of Stargate SG-1 on DVD July 21 (prebook June 24). Here's what the studio says of Stargate SG-1: Children of the Gods Final Cut: Taking after the author’s vision of the pilot, visual effects have been enhanced, the soundtrack has been updated to include an entirely original score, and the new final cut features a more self-contained storyline. The spinoff from the original Stargate movie, Stargate SG-1 continues the story a year after the end of the film's storyline. According to Eagle Rock, the ZZ Top Live From Texas DVD has passed the one-year mark on the Soundscan Music DVD charts. Live From Texas was released on June 24 last year and is the first live concert from ZZ Top on DVD and Blu-ray. It features 17 of the band's most popular songs, including "Sharp Dressed Man" and "Legs," as well as footage of the band discussing they evolution over a game of poker. Here's two DVD-only releases from Sony that originated on TV: Top-rated Lifetime TV movie America, starring Rosie O'Donnell as a psychiatrist helping a bi-racial boy at a youth treatment center, will come to DVD on Sept. 1 (prebook July 23). The movie, which explores the current state of the foster care system, will be released with a making-of featurette including interviews with O'Donnell and others. Sony priced the title at $24.96. Fox will deliver Lie to Me: Season One on DVD and Blu-ray on Aug. 25 (prebook July 15), priced at $49.98 and $59.99, respectively. Universal's Duplicity, starring Julia Roberts and Clive Owen, will be released Aug. 25 (prebook July 7) on DVD ($29.98) and Blu-ray ($39.98). The now cancelled NBC show Kings will come to DVD on Sept. 8 (prebook July 21) from Universal. Starring Deadwood's Ian McShane and Eragon's Christopher Egan, Kings tells a David and Goliath story about a modern monarchy and all the greed, war, romance and forbidden love that goes along with it.
