Mamma Mia! DVD, Blu-ray Official!
October 28, 2008
It's official! No official word from Universal yet, but we hear that the romantic musical Mamma Mia! will be released Dec. 16 (prebook is Nov. 4) priced at $29.98 for a single-DVD, $34.98 for a two-DVD set and $39.98 for the Blu-ray version.
No news on Blu-ray, either, but with a box-office of $143 million, we doubt Universal won't release the movie on high-def. And we were right about that. The Blu-ray will even have Universal's signature U Control picture-in-picture features and BD Live features.
The rest of the Blu-ray features will be deleted scenes, outtakes, a deleted musical number for "The Name of the Game," plenty of making-of featurettes, commentary, a music video and a sing-along.
Plus a downloadable digital copy of the film will be on the two-DVD and Blu-ray versions.
The two-DVD will have the same features as the Blu-ray except the BD exclusive BD Live and U Control.
The single DVD will offer just the sing-along, deleted musical number and commentary.
Based on the Broadway play, which is based on Abba songs (woohoo!), Mamma Mia! stars Pierce Brosnin, Colin Firth and Meryl Streep, among others. The story is about a bride-to-be trying to find her real father.
Here's the trailer:
