It was a big week of announcements for Warner, with Clone Wars, Journey to the Center of the Earth and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. Today, the studio has the biggest of the lot (box-office-wise, at least): Get Smart. The $129 million-grossing remake will arrive on Nov. 4 (prebook Sept. 30) in a single-DVD ($28.98), two-DVD special edition ($34.99) and three-disc Blu-ray ($35.99).
All versions will include digital copy, and the special edition and Blu-ray will have lenticular packaging that, continuing from the theatrical posters, has Steve Carell's tie covering Anne Hathaway's face on one angle and Hathaway's hair covering Carell's face from the other angle. Cute. In the single DVD version, Carell's tie covers Hathaways' face, Hathaway's hair covers Dwayne Johnson's (don't you wish he still went by The Rock?) face and Johnson's gun covers Alan Arkin's face. Lot of covering going on.
As far as special features go, Blu-ray will include a "Get Smart Kaos Control" DVD movie game. Not sure what that is? Click for a preview.
And the special edition and Blu-ray will have a special Comedy Optimization Mode way of watching the movie, as well as the theatrical. The COM way features alternative versions of jokes. Here's a preview:
