Netflix Hacked?
March 5, 2007

Or at least its Watch Now feature has been, maybe. Launched in January, the Watch Now feature allows users to watch a certain number of hours of movies online each month based on their subscription plan. But Engadget reports that with a simple hack, users can watch all the movies they want online regardless of their alloted time. Of course, the site says it hasn't actually tried the hack, so can't confirm it works.
Speaking at Bear Stearns' Media Summit today, Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos didn't address the hack but explained the company's thought behind Watch Now, which offers streaming of films but no downloads. "When you have access to that library it takes away the consumer's need to store and manage files."
And in yet more Netflix news, HackingNetflix points to a cost analysis comparing a Netflix subscription to Cable and iTunes. The winner is Netflix.
