VUDU Launches First HD Titles
November 21, 2007

Vudu is bundling free high definition copies of The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremecy with the purchase of its proprietary set-top entertainment box in a deal with Universal Studios.

The Vudu box, which costs $399, allows users instant access through a broadband connection to new releases as soon as they are released on DVD.

The deal with Universal starts November 23 and lasts a limited time. Users can also purchase the last installment of the trilogy, The Bourne Ultimatum, in high definition on December 11, the two companies announced.

The Bourne franchise movies are the first titles offered in high definition by Vudu, which announced last week it would begin offering high definition content.

Vudu's service offers 5,000 titles from all the major studios and 20 independents directly through the television. It does not require a PC, cable service or satellite TV subscription, the company said.

"Digital delivery of HD movies through Vudu makes it easy for consumers to get the high quality content they most want to watch, when they want to watch it," said Tony Miranz, VUDU's Co-founder and EVP for Sales & Business Development.

"Vudu's breakthrough technology speaks to the evolving digital distribution market and is a perfect way for Bourne fans to get the best motion pictures in superior home video quality in the timeliest manner possible," said Craig Kornblau, President, Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Universal Pictures Digital Platforms.

Vudu can be purchased at select retailers and online including Tweeter, Magnolia, MyerEmco, Amazon.com, and Vudu.com.
