Viacom tells YouTube to Pull its Clips
February 2, 2007

I guess Viacom's not going to wait for YouTube to start paying for videos on its site. The company told the site to take down more than 100,000 of its videos Friday after failing to reach a distribution agreement. YouTube's agreed to pull the videos, so guess that means no more Colbert or Daily Show clips on the site.

Or maybe not...I just checked and Jon Stewart's interview with Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates, which has been one of the more popular clips on the site the last few days, still seems to be up this morning. Guess it takes time to take them down.

Of course, you'll still be able to easily find the clips even once they're off YouTube - iFilm, which is owned by Viacom, isn't removing them.
