TV.com evaluating its next steps

Things are heating up in the online TV world. Yesterday, Hulu.com, a joint venture between NBC Universal and News Corp., pulled its content streams from rival sites TV.com and Boxee.

The late last night, TV.com, owned by CBS, posted a statement saying it's "evaluating its next steps," according to VB sister publication Broadcasting & Cable.

Hulu has syndication deals with a number of sites, spreading its content around. The benefit to consumers is they can go to fewer sites to get more content.

The easier it is for consumers to join in the fun online, the more quickly online streaming will become mainstream.

But if sites keep too tight a hold on their content, so consumers have to go one place to watch The Office and another for C.S.I., they might just go back to their TiVos.
