PS3 Knocks Wii Off Its Pedestal
November 30, 2007
Er, in Japan, and just for the month of November. But still, PS3 deserves some props for beating that pesky high-def-less Wii for the first time since players launched in the country last year. During the four week frame through Nov. 25, PS3 scored 183,217 in console sales, trumping the Wii's 159,193 in sales, according to various reports. NPD will soon be releasing its November U.S. gaming figures, and there's a chance PS3 could repeat the feat in this country. Same as in Japan, the U.S. was treated to the launch of the relatively cheap 40 GB PS3. Sony has already been talking up its signficant sales gains for PS3 since making these $399 consoles available. At last count in October, PS3 sold 121,000 units, losing to both the Xbox 360's 366,000 and Wii's 519,000.
