Costco Paints the Town Blu

October 29, 2008 It's looks like Costco is the lastest retailer to really beef up its Blu-ray selection, as pictured here at Format War Central.
Costco is a tough retailer to track for permanent commitment to a category, as it seems to constantly change up its merchandising. But it does seem like it's going big on Blu at least for the holidays, with some really towering title display standees.
The retailer is also aggressively pricing certain Blu-ray set-tops, including Samsung's BD-Live ready BD-P1500 for $229. Most retailers have been offering the model for $299.
Hopefully, Costco will get some traction with its enhanced Blu-ray selection, and we'll see that the chain sticks with it for some time.
Costco's spreading of its Blu wings comes on the heels of Target opening its arms wider for the format, with more Blu-ray set-tops and titles for sale in stores.
