Gaiam acquires titles from Inspired

Children's, sports and fitness among genres

By Cindy Spielvogel -- Video Business, 7/16/2008

JULY 16 | Gaiam will build its budget business with children’s and fitness titles acquired from Inspired Corp.

Titles included in the deal are from the children’s entertainment and instructional sports, dance and fitness genres.

The instructional fitness DVDs will include brand-name titles that will be the first of their kind released at a price point of less than $10, according to Gaiam.

“This acquisition will allow us to carve out a new value-priced category for these genres and further expand our audience reach,” said Bill Sondheim, Gaiam president of entertainment and worldwide distribution.

The fitness lines include The Method, QuickFix, Elle, Shape, Buff Fitness and Tru2 Form.

From the children’s category are Little Cars, Ratatoing (similar to the Disney film Ratatouille), The Big Garage, St. Bears, Christmas titles Life With Jesus and Littlest Light on the Christmas Tree and family instructional dance series Groovin’ Groovaloos, Miss Christy’s and Tinkerbell. Also acquired is the adult dance series Cal Pozo’s Learn to Dance in Minutes.
