Rental machines expand reach on East Coast
By Susanne Ault -- Video Business, 6/14/2007
JUNE 14 | Redbox is spreading its DVD rental machines into 70 Wegmans Food Markets along the East Coast.
Following a seven-month test in Rochester, N.Y., Redbox machines will move into Wegmans stores in Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and New York.
Currently, about 4,000 Redbox machines are in use nationwide, spanning grocery storefronts and McDonald’s restaurants.
“We are proud Wegmans is featuring the added convenience of Redbox within its highly regarded retail locations,” Redbox CEO Gregg Kaplan said. “With convenient features such as guaranteed access to new releases with online rental [reservations] and a rent and return anywhere policy, Redbox is expanding the one-stop-shopping experience at Wegmans.”
