JUNE 20 | American Greetings Properties is extending its marketing and distribution partnership with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, with plans to launch four new properties on DVD, including a new animated Care Bears series.
Sushi Pack titles are among those now distributed by Fox.
Street dates and pricing have not yet been set.
Fox has already distributed a number of American Greetings’ Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake titles. This new Care Bears series will premiere on TV network CBS this fall. Like past titles, the series will focus on the colorful bears living in Care-A-Lot.
Coming theatrically this summer from Fox and American Greetings is Care Bears feature Oopsy Does It!, which will bow on DVD this fall.
The deal also brings into Fox’s DVD pipeline American Greetings brands Sushi Pack, Twisted Whiskers and Maryoku Yummy.
Sushi Pack follows crime-fighting sushi and was written by Animaniacs artists Tom Ruegger and Nicholas Hollander.
Twisted Whiskers originated as a greeting card line featuring cats and dogs. American Greetings will be working with The Simpsons animator Bill Kopp to translate Twisted Whiskers into a bigger media brand.
Maryoku Yummy is in development as a preschool TV series from Rugrats creators Barbara Herndon and Jill Gorey.
Fox “has been an incredible partner with whom we’ve enjoyed a tremendous amount of success for our Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake brands,” said Josef Mandelbaum, president and CEO of American Greetings Intellectual Property Group. “These new entertainment releases will undoubtedly be a hit among both kids and parents alike, and we look forward to a continued collaborative relationship with Fox Home Entertainment to support these character brands in the marketplace.”
Fox senior VP of acquisitions David Bixler added, “Our clout at retail maximizes the presence and awareness for AGP’s current and upcoming franchises and at the same time provides us with terrific content for the important preschool and children’s and family category.”
