The Who’s Roger Daltrey attended Universal and VH1’s Amazing Journey: The Story of the Who premiere event at the Paley Center for Media’s DocFest in New York on Oct. 30.
Disney hosted its Magical Blu-ray Tour Oct. 26-28 at Roosevelt Field in Garden City, N.Y. Sponsored by Panasonic, the tour gave consumers information about the high-definition format.
To celebrate the Oct. 30 DVD release of Spider-Man 3, Sony executives participated in several promotional activities in New York’s Times Square on Oct. 29, including the NASDAQ closing bell ceremony.

OCT. 20 | December is getting tighter than ever for DVD releases, with multiple new releases debuting on the same day.
Sony's hit comedy kicks off December.
Sony's blockbuster teen comedy Superbad, which scored $118 million in theaters, will be released Dec. 4 (prebook Nov. 1) on DVD ($28.95 single-disc, $34.95 unrated two-disc), Blu-ray (two-disc $43.95) and PSP ($24.94).
Skewing more toward women, The Weinstein Co. will bow The Nanny Diaries also on Dec. 4 (order now) on DVD ($29.95).
Meanwhile, Dec. 18 is heating up to be a banner shopping day.
Disney's kid-friendly Underdog will fly onto DVD ($29.99) and Blu-ray ($34.99) on Dec. 18, the same day Fox will deliver the more adult The Simpsons Movie (prebook Nov. 21) on the same formats (DVD $29.98, Blu-ray $39.98).
They will compete with the bow of Paramount's fantasy Stardust (prebook Nov. 6) on DVD ($29.99) and HD DVD ($39.99). It carries an all-star cast, including Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Claire Danes, Peter O'Toole, Sienna Miller and Ricky Gervais.
And Universal's contribution that day is comedy Balls of Fury, starring Christopher Walken. It also will be released on DVD ($29.98) and HD DVD ($39.98).
Meanwhile, Disney is closing its vault on some of its classics. Come Jan. 31, Cinderella Platinum Edition, Cinderella II: Dreams Come True Special Edition, Cinderella III: A Twist in Time, Aladdin Special Edition and Aladdin II and III Two-Pack DVD will no longer be available.
