OCT. 20 | Synkronized, the parent company of Miami-based DVD label SKD USA, is expanding into feature film production and music distribution.
“The steady growth of SKD USA since its launch in 2000 has positioned us for an aggressive plan of expansion,” said Alex Cohen, president of the company.
The film production division will be called Synkro Entertainment. Partnering on the venture with Cohen is Emmy Award-winning producer and director Aleks Rosenberg. The venture has already completed the action-adventure The Director and is in post-production on the action-adventure The Bait.
SKD USA also has taken on music distribution under its SKD Urban label. The CD Shine the Light, from Richie Booker, brother of Bob Marley, will be available Dec. 9.
SKD’s music and DVD titles are both distributed through Koch Entertainment.
SKD also announced an expanded DVD release schedule with the acquisition of six titles set for release through year-end.
From the French company Societe Nouvelle Distribution, SKD will release comedies Whatever You Say and Would I Lie to You? 2 as well as the action-adventure Gamer. All three titles will be released Nov. 11 (prebook now; DVD $24.98 each).
From Supersonic Entertainment, SKD will release the adventure drama A Viking Saga: Son of Thor on Dec. 9 (prebook Nov. 11; DVD $24.98).
From French movie channel M6, SKD will release action-adventure Total Western and romantic drama Change My Life, both on Dec. 9 (prebook Nov. 11; DVD $24.98 each).
