Magnolia, Snatch Blu-ray
September 21, 2009
Here's a couple cool catalog titles debuting on Blu-ray.
Warner will deliver Paul Thomas Anderson's 1999 drama Magnolia on Jan. 19 (prebook Dec. 15), priced at $28.99. And the studio promises that Anderson's Boogie Nights will follow soon after next year.
Anderson's follow-up to his acclaimed Boogie Nights, Magnolia stars Tom Cruise and much of the Boogie Nights cast: Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, William H. Macy and John C. Reilly. Cruise was nominated for an Oscar for his role (best supporting actor) as a sleezy informercial host. The movie also was nominated for Best Original Song for Aimee Mann's "Save Me" and for Anderson's original screenplay.
Special features on the Blu-ray will be:
- Magnolia Video Diary -- Covers the blossoming of a modern-day masterwork
- Frank T.J. Mackey Seminar (with Cruise's character)
- Seduce and Destroy Infomercial
- "One" and "Save Me" -- Aimee Mann music videos
- Theatrical trailers and TV spots
Sony will release Guy Ritchie's 2000 crime thriller comedy Snatch. on Dec. 1 (prebook Oct. 29), priced at $28.95. The date is a few weeks before Ritchie's latest, the reimagining of Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr., bows in theaters.
Snatch. also boasts a cool cast: Brad Pitt, Benecio Del Toro and Jason Statham, before his Transporter and Crank fame.
Part of Sony's Blu-ray rewards club, Snatch will have these special features:
- The Snatch Cutting Room - Create your own video using clips and music from the movie and share it via BD-Live
- movieIQ: BD-Live connects you to movieIQ where you can access real-time information on the cast, trivia and more while watching the movie
