Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian DVD, Blu-ray

Fox is getting its family comedy sequel Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian on DVD and Blu-ray a week ahead of Warner's juggernaut, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Smithsonian, which grossed $177 million at the box office, will be released to the home market on Dec. 1 (prebook Nov. 4) in a three-disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack ($39.99), a single DVD ($29.98) and a limited edition two-DVD Monkey Mischief Edition ($34.98).

Fox is sweetening the value for fans with a Golden Ticket Activation Instant Win Sweepstakes, in which consumers can instantly win the "ultimate Smithsonian Experience," including travel, accommodation and a private, all-access tour of the Smithsonian Museum for a family of four. Fox partnered with Delta Vacations and the Smithsonian for the contest.

All the disc configurations offered will include special features. All will offer a gag reel; commentaries with the filmmakers; six deleted scenes, including an alternate ending; and the featurettes "Curators of Comedy: Behind the Scenes With Ben Stiller," "Cherub Bootcamp" and "Phinding Pharoah With Hank Azaria."

The limited Monkey Mischief edition, available for the holidays, also will contain two games ("Monkey Slap Game" and "Abel and Dexter's Flights of Fancy") and three "Show Me the Monkey" featurettes ("Monkey Business," "Primate Prima Donna" and "The Secret Life of a Monkey Movie Star: Life Off Camera").

The Blu-ray Combo Pack will have all those plus another six deleted scenes, "Museum Scavenger Hunt Game," "Historical Confessions: Famous Last Words," "Secret Doors and Scientists," "Cavemen Conversations: Survival of the Wittiest," "Museum Magic: Entering the World of the Photograph," "Director 201 With Shawn Levy," "Gangster Levy" and Fox Movie Channel featurettes. This SKU also is the only one to include digital copy.
