Gossip Girl moves off the Web
April 18, 2008

The Internet might be the future of TV, but the CW apparently thinks the future is coming a little too fast.

VB sister publication Variety reports that CW is concerned that the Web buzz for its Gossip Girl series is taking away from the show's broadcast. Gossip Girl is apparently regularly among the most downloaded shows from iTunes, but its Nielsen ratings are lacking.

So, when the show returns, the producers have decided not to offer it online in the hopes that audiences will be forced to seek it out the old-fashioned way--on their TV sets.

Here's the full story on Variety.com.

Oh, and episodes will still be available on iTunes, just a week after they've aired.
