TiVo promo includes Netflix discount

TiVo is looking to boost demand for its high-definition digital-video recorders by offering a discount on Netflix subscriptions.
TiVo will give buyers of its HD and HD XL DVRs six free months of membership to Netflix's one-DVD-at-a-time, unlimited video-streaming subscription, which is worth about $54. The promotion was reported by the HackingNetflix blog earlier today.
Netflix has been building its video-streaming business by making its inventory of more than 12,000 digital titles streamable to televisions through electronic components such as Samsung Blu-ray players, Microsoft Xbox 360 videogame consoles and TiVo DVRs.
Netflix, the largest U.S. movie-rental service via mail, and TiVo reached an agreement last October to make Netflix's digital titles playable on TiVo DVRs. TiVo has since reached a similar deal with Amazon.com.
