AT&T mobile: everything, all the time

May 6, 2009

Once upon a time, mobile phones were used as, well, phones.

AT&T today launched an application making it easier for customers to send Web content to their cell phones as it continues to build sales from its mobile devices.

AT&T's "Send to Mobile" feature streamlines the process of sending Web links to mobile phones while letting customers set up e-mail accounts with unlimited storage levels, the telecommunications giant said in a statement today.

AT&T continues to invest in a mobile-applications market whose sales have surged as revenue from its other services has flattened out. The company's first-quarter wireless data revenue, which includes mobile applications, jumped 39% from a year earlier, compared to a slight drop in companywide sales, AT&T said last month.
