• Google is apparently going to studios and offering tens of millions of dollars to keep their clips available on YouTube and avoid lawsuits, so says the Financial Times.
•Revver, ABC.com and Vongo are among the nominees for a Technology & Engineering Emmy for best use of On-Demand Technology. In a release, Revver touted that it's the first video-sharing site ever nominated for an Emmy. Awards will be presented Jan. 8 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
• Speaking of Revver, non-profit copyright org Creative Commons will post videos on the viral video site as part of its fundraising drive through Dec. 31. Revver matches advertisements with videos posted on its site and splits the revenues with the video owner. However, the company will donate all revenues from Creative Commons videos to the org, which is the first charity to use the site to raise money. Creative Commons promotes the re-use of intellectual property through new copyright models.
