Iron Man and BD-Live: Dudes Rejoice
August 8, 2008
It looks like Paramount hit the nail on the head with its announcement today about
Iron Man's Blu-ray interactivity. The title streets in Blu-ray and on DVD on Sept. 30.
At this point, bloggers have been somewhat ho-hum when they've heard about included Web-enabled features. Playing games on my Blu-ray player? Well, can't I just do that on my PS3? That type of thing.
But this post at Gizmodo gushes over
Iron Man's Blu-ray fabulousness, describing it as "fully controllable man porn." The site particularly seems to covet a Blu-ray exclusive feature that lets people fly around wearing
Iron Man's three different armored suits. People can also inspect various weapons with 3-D effects.
In a Web-enabled feature, people can challenge each other with quizzes integrating clips from the film.
Maybe
Iron Man will be that title that really motivates people off their butts to buy a Blu-ray player? At this point, I don't think there has a been a killer title like that to rally around. People who buy PS3s, still probably see it as gaming machine first...Blu-ray player second.
