Michael Bay: High Def God
February 14, 2008

Transformers' Michael Bay has an ego on him. But I have to give it up to the guy for being one of the few filmmakers who has long vocally supported a high-def format - in this case Blu-ray. Speaking at a recent awards show, Bay couldn't resist taking further pot-shots at HD DVD in light of studio and retail support steadily slipping. He knew all along Blu-ray was the mighty format! As HighDefDigest.com reports, Bay said of Warner's decision to exit HD DVD, "Am I thrilled? It really wasn't my fight, but remember what I said in the press...I was kinda saying HD DVD is going to lose. But no one believed me."
High-def can only be helped by more and more celebrities and famous folk publicly giving their thumbs up. Retail and studio statements are sometimes carried as far as business-oriented publications, but geez, imagine Angelina Jolie buying her man's Assasination of Jesse James on Blu-ray. That snapshot could very well wind up being seen by millions in the pages of mainstream glossies U.S. Weekly, In Touch, etc.

Michael Bay ranted like a spoiled child on this subject. Michael Bay shold have concentrated on how great HD DVD made Transformers look and sound. Toshiba has officially announced the halt of HD DVD. Michael Bay should be proud.
