Paramount BD-Live Blitzed with Iron Man
October 1, 2008

Iron Man is proving to be such a hit on Blu-ray, that it looks like the studio suffered a BD-Live server meltdown today.
According to this message sent to Web-connected Blu-ray users, "unprecedented demand was put on the BD-Live connection...the heavy amount of traffic strained the servers due to so many people heading to the same destination."
It looks like Paramount eventually came to the rescue and bumped up its BD-Live bandwith capacity.
You can check out the whole message posted here at AVSForum.
I think the takeaway message from all of this is actually really positive for Blu-ray. Studios were thinking that it might take awhile for consumers to 'get' BD-Live, which offers connectivity to home entertainment set-tops for the first time.
But the real BD-Live test is probably the Oct. 7 release of Sleeping Beauty, which is geared more towards tech-iffy families than young, gadget-loving Iron Man fans.
