Subliminal Samsung
October 26, 2007
Paging through a local newspaper, an ad for something called BlueSeat.com caught my eye. (For you LA-ites, it was on page 80 in the Oct. 26-Nov. 1 issue of LA Weekly) It was technically an ad for the new Sean Penn-directed flick "Into the Wild." But at the bottom of the page, I noticed the Samsung name and logo and the suggestion to visit www.blueseat.com. Quickly my mind did some connecting...Blue? Samsung? What? Oh.
So I headed over to the site, which still seems to be in development, and came across what looks like a destination for indie film lovers. There is an area that helps you locate a 'Blue Seat,' which appears to relate to partner theaters offering enhanced programming to registered Web site users. For instance, the Landmark theater chain is helping BlueSeat members promote their favorite underappreciated indie movie.
But I couldn't really find that Blu-ray mention as quickly as I thought I would. But I think that's the point.
By the time I did find a plug for Samsung's latest Blu-ray BD-P1400 model, within a link for general products, I was pretty enthusiastic about indie filmmaking. Sorta feeling like I need to go pick up a DVD someplace...and maybe I'd wander through the store some...and hey! is that the new Samsung Blu-ray model? Or...is this a whole lot of work (look how long it took for me to tell that story) for nothing??
At the site, there is an offer for registered BlueSeat members to win a suite of Samsung products, including the BD-P1400. So maybe a peek at the site is a bit worthwhile?
