T2, Dr. Strangelove Blu-ray and more
February 20, 2009
Ok, I know what you're thinking: Do we really need another Terminator 2 disc? Lionsgate thinks so, but the studio has upped the ante for the new Terminator 2 Skynet Edition on Blu-ray.
The cool titled edition will include new lossless DTS-HD master audio -- excellent. Plus the movie will come with 140-minutes of behind-the-scenes multi-media galleries, storyboard-script views, commentaries, quizzes and games. And BD Live will have more games.
Arriving May 19 (prebook April 22), the T2 Skynet Edition will be priced at $29.99 of available in a Limited Edition T2 Complete Collector's Set priced at a whopping $174.99. Is it worth it? You decide: As well as the Skynet Blu-ray disc, the six-disc Collector's Set will include the Extreme Edition DVD and Ultimate Edition DVD of the movie, a 14-inch T-800 Endoskull bust with light-up eyes and sound effects, and a disc with a digital copy of the film playable with iTunes of Windows Media.
Plus, plenty of other catalog movies are coming to Blu-ray.
Celebrating its 45th anniversary, Dr. Strangelove, Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb will debut on Blu-ray on June 16 (prebook May 14; $38.96). Sony will pack the disc with picture-in-picture tracks, four documentaries and interviews, including with stars Peter Sellers and George C. Scott.
Also, Warner will deliver thriller Fracture, starring Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling, on Blu-ray on June 16 (prebook May 12; $28.99), including a digital copy.
And Eminem's music drama 8 Mile will bow on the format on April 14 (prebook March 3; $29.98) from Universal.
