SteelBook DVD line from Fox and MGM
May 7, 2007

Fox and MGM are building DVD packages to last.

The studios are delivering a new line of titles in SteelBook packaging, metal casings that open like a book.

The SteelBook line bows on June 5 (prebook May 9) with nine blockbusters, including Cast Away, Day After Tomorrow Collector’s Edition, Die Hard (timed for the theatrical release of the fourth movie in the franchise, Live Free or Die Hard) and X2: X-Men United Special Edition, each priced at $22.98.

Sci-fi fans are getting new packaging too. The same day, Fox and MGM are delivering a eight sci-fi hits in lenticular cases, each priced at $14.98. Titles include The Abyss Director’s Cut, Alien, Independence Day Special Edition, Predator and The Terminator.

The DVDs themselves have the same bonuses as their originals.
