Price Could Be Right for LG's Netflix Blu-ray Player
October 3, 2008

Circuit City has LG's latest, the first Netflix-streaming Blu-ray set-top, tagged at $350. That puts the LG BD300 player definitely in a reasonable price range for a BD-Live model that also happens to let you stream movies from your Netflix account.
It looks like LG bowed to some pricing pressure, as the model originally was slated to launch for around $400. At $350, the BD300 will be the cheapest automatic Web-enabled player that doesn't require any firmware to handle networked content. Gizmodo gives the pricing a definite thumbs up.
Circuit City is accepting pre-orders
now and is indicating the player will start shipping next week.
Oddly, Amazon.com has it listed at $399.
LG's BD300 will be likely doing retail battle with Sony's auto-BD-Live $399 BDP-S550 and Panasonic's own $399 auto-BD-Live DMP-BD35.
