The new brand introduces NASCAR to kids.

JUNE 8 | NASCAR and Reel FX Home Entertainment are fueling a new auto racing DVD series for preschoolers.

The professional sports league and Reel FX will jointly develop the animated line, which starts production this summer and will street in spring 2009. Dennis DeShazer, who co-created the Barney kids property, is executive producer behind the NASCAR preschool DVD series.

Pricing has not yet been specified, and a distributor has not been determined.

The DVDs will kick off NASCAR’s new NASCAR Jr. brand.

Story lines will feature five young friends, who use kid-sized cars to help them solve various missions. Every installment will revolve around important life lessons.

“NASCAR Jr. brings the excitement and thrills of NASCAR home to children in a way that allows them to connect to the sport and begin building an affinity for NASCAR that we hope will last a lifetime,” said Mark Dyer, NASCAR’s VP of licensing and consumer products.

DeShazer added, “The world of NASCAR provides a strong creative springboard for developing colorful characters and stories that will resonate with young children and their parents. The series will tap into what preschoolers already love: cars, action and physical humor.”
